Whole Grain Milling Buying Club
I’ve been struggling the last few years.
I know what food is good to eat and what is not.
Yet when my stress levels rose, when I (and my family) needed healthy food the most, I went backwards - back to easy, palate pleasing, not good for you, food.
I didn’t intend for it to last more than a few months, but somehow it lasted almost 5 years.
I kept up with the good eggs, and meat, and of course our raw dairy.
But things like processed grains slid back in, and stuck around. And right now, getting back to eating mostly organic whole grains is on the top of my list.
The more I learn about glyphosate, the more I want to stay as far away from it as possible!
It’s in expensive gluten free pasta…a lot of fast food…girl scout cookies.
But what it’s not in, is organic grains.
That’s exactly what they grow and mill at Whole Grain Milling by Welcome, MN. If you shop at Lakewinds, you’ve probably picked up a bag of their tortilla chips before.
We used to live half an hour from their mill and they were one of the first local farmers we bought food from. When I ran out of things like flour or oatmeal or cornmeal from the store, I replaced them with products from Whole Grain Milling - and I was never disappointed.
Their whole wheat bread mix was the first whole wheat bread to come out of my oven that was not comparable to a brick! And their Harvest Pancake Mix was a family favorite, even among my 4 young children at the time, who weren’t overly excited over me no longer using Bisquick.
But then in 2016 we moved to our current farm, and the 4-hour round trip to the mill and back every couple months was not possible.
So when I decided I wanted to get back to whole grains, I got to thinking…maybe our friends and family and customers would be interested in having a buying club, where we pool our orders, and everything gets delivered here.
Here’s how it works:
You do not have to be a herdshare member in order to buy from Whole Grain Milling with our buying club.
We’ll order about every 3 months so stock up.
I’ll send out an email like this when it’s time for us to order again.
Minimum order is $10 per person.
We need a minimum of 10 people to order.
Delivery fee will be split between everyone ordering. The most it will be is $7.50 per person - but the more people who order, the lower the delivery fee - so tell your friends who might be interested, too!
Payment will be made to me, in cash, when you pick up your order.
Product and prices will be on a Google Spreadsheet. (Email or text me for link)
I will collect all the orders using a Google Form. (Email or text me for link)
After delivery, you have 2 weeks to pick up your order from our farm. That will give you time to pick up your Whole Grain Milling order when you come out next for dairy - you don’t have to make a special trip to the farm.
If you’re a herdshare member that picks up at a dropsite, I will bring your Whole Grain Milling order with me to the next dropsite pickup.
The first delivery date to our farm will be the week of 3/24.
Orders must be placed by midnight on Saturday, 3/15.
If you have any questions, email or text me. Thanks!
